Anytime the design industry comes together, it’s a good thing. And the ASID Award Gala was no exception. ASID is not only the oldest, but also the largest organization for interior designers. It boasts more than 20,000 Professional and Allied Members, 7,000 Student Members and 3,500 Industry Partners providing products and services for interior design. And they know how to throw a party!

The event was held at the Mandarin Oriental, one of our favorite hotels in Back Bay. Not only is it an aesthetically beautiful space, we’re also impressed with their green initiatives. From sustainable construction practices to roof gardens, every effort has been made to consider energy efficiency. Back Bay Shutter Company has worked with clients who have residences at the hotel. The views are breathtaking and quintessential Boston. In fact, here’s a video featuring our installation of motorized shades in one of our client’s fabulous homes located at The Mandarin. As you’ll see, having automatic shades in a room like this offers a lot of flexibility. With the flick of a switch, the shades close to offer a room darkening effect. And with another flick, spectacular views of the city become part of the decor.

The event honored Jerry Arcari of Landry & Arcari, Dennis Duffy Duffy Design Group, Stacy Garcia, of Stacy Garcia Inc, and Taniya Nayak, of HGTV’s Designed to Sell. We congratulate this deservant bunch and once again, feel thankful to be part of such a rich and vibrant community. Plum Tv covered the celebration–if you want to have a little voyeuristic fun, check it out!
